Obituary of Frances N. Severson

With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of Frances “Nawana” Severson (McCarty) 77 of South Windsor, CT as she entered eternal peace on Monday, September 19^th, 2022. She was born in Modesto, California on September 15, 1945, daughter of the late Opal “Elmer” and Flora “Estell” (Sanders) McCarty.

Nawana’s devotion and firm belief in God guided her through her life and ultimately gave her peace until she reached her heavenly home. She loved spending time with youth as a Sunday school teacher and throughout her career at the bowling alley. She especially enjoyed the coordination and being a part of the Special Olympics. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald, whom she has been married to for 50 years. She is also survived by her two children: Michael Wolf and his wife Helen of Modesto, CA and daughter LaDonna Heimer and her husband Scott of Manchester, CT.  She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren Megan, Matthew, Melanie, Mason, Emma, Evan, and Molly: her brother Loy McCarty and his wife Jacqueline, her sister Karen King and her husband Ronald, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. 

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, CT for a viewing which will be followed by a short funeral service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
