Obituary of Betty L. Lumbra

Betty Lucille (Flavell) Lumbra, 96, of Manchester CT, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at
Manchester Memorial Hospital. Daughter of the late Chester and Grace (Goodale) Flavell, she was born on February 22, 1926.  

Betty graduated from Manchester High School, class of ’44. Having held and enjoyed various positions over the years, she retired her career as supervisor of the cleaning staff with Manchester Memorial Hospital.  She loved fishing, boating, gardening and loved to travel and to try new restaurants.  You couldn’t slow her down.

Betty is survived by her children, Dennis Lumbra and his wife, Shirley Lumbra and her daughter Lyn Whewell; her grandchildren, David Lumbra, Kathleen Floran and her husband James Floran, great-grandchildren, Casey Lundelius, Corinne and Cadence Lumbra. Betty was predeceased by her brother Raymond Flavell, sister Ann Kissman and son in law Brian Whewell.

We would like to thank all the caregivers who assisted in her care over the last 10 years especially Stephanie Atkins who took care of her for many of those years.

John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. Remembrance will be at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut.
