Obituary of Marjorie J. Adamy

Marjorie J. Lautenbach Flavell Adamy, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, of Manchester passed away on August 4th, at the age of 92.

Marge was born in Manchester in 1930, the youngest daughter of Maximilian and Lula Edger Lautenbach. She lived in Manchester her entire life, graduating from Manchester High School with honors in 1949.

Many may remember Marge as the happy friendly secretary of the Manchester Recreation Department. She enjoyed working in the Rec Department meeting so many residents who signed up for fields and court reservations for multiple sports and issuing rec cards!

Marge also enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus to Carl Silver’s Santa at Center Springs Lodge. She was fond of the children who came to visit Santa. Marge was a blue-ribbon rug hooker, an honor she found extremely funny. She hooked so many gorgeous pictures and rugs over the years. Her children and grandchildren benefitted from her talents. Marge also supported all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities and dance recitals.

Marge is survived by her daughter Sharon Flavell Rickard and son Walter J. Adamy Sr. and his wife Jennifer, her brother-in-law Donald Flavell and his wife Sylvia and sister-in-law Alice Adamy. Her precious grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy Scott and Amanda Rickard, Edward S. Adamy III “Sam” and his wife Sarah, Rebecca Katherine Jones, Clayton Adamy, and Walter J. Adamy, Jr. She also had five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Marge was predeceased by her husbands, Sgt. Howard Crawford Flavell Jr. (Sharon’s father) and Edward S. Adamy Sr.; her son Edward S. Adamy Jr. and her son-in-law Ron Rickard. She was also predeceased by her parents Max and Lula, two sisters Ruth and Laura Bunce and brothers John and William.
