Barbara Popoff

Obituary of Barbara J. Popoff

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Popoff, 95, of Vernon who parted this world on August 3, 2022 after a brief hospitalization.

Barbara was born in Broad Brook, CT on November 4, 1926 to the late Charles and Marion (Cotton) Zinsser.  She was one of eight children and was predeceased by her four sisters and three brothers.

Barbara enjoyed crocheting and was an expert at making afghans and other beautiful creations which she handcrafted for everyone in the family.  She also had a love for country music and could play piano by ear and was very talented at doing so.  But above all, Barbara loved spending time with her family.  She will be missed more than she could ever know.

She is survived by her children; David Popoff, Jeffrey Popoff, and Sandra Berzenski and her husband Robert; grandchildren Dawn, Tammy, Carrie, Amber, Robert and Samantha; and great grandchildren Ryan, Jaiden, Connor, Brianna and Cameron.

A celebration of life and memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

Her Journey’s Just Begun:
Don’t think of her as gone away,  her journey’s just begun, Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one, Just think of her as resting, from the sorrows and the tears, In a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days or years, Think how she must be wishing, that we could know today, How nothing but our sadness, can really pass away, And think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched, For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
