Obituary of Christine S. Calhoun

Christine S. Calhoun, 82, of Manchester, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, with her son by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald W. Calhoun, Jr., who passed away on May 1, 2021. Christine was born in Manchester on August 22, 1939. She was the youngest of two children to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Peckham) Smith.

Christine graduated from East Hartford High School in 1958. She had a long career in the banking field and held many positions at First Federal Savings and Loan, Savings Bank of Manchester, Bank of East Hartford and finally retiring from American Eagle Financial Credit Union. After retiring, Chris and Don enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and working around their house. Christine and Donald were married on August 2, 1958 and enjoyed almost 63 years together.

She is survived by her son Steven Calhoun and longtime girlfriend Heather Frazier and grandson Ryan Calhoun of Coventry, her brother Robert Smith of Vernon, her sister-in-law Mary Kellner of Vernon and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to sincerely thank her caregivers; Bonnie Soulsby, Sue Kerns, Beverly Martinez and Ron Jones, for making the last year of her life a higher quality and being able to stay at home where she wanted to be.
