Dean Tully

Obituary of Dean J. Tully

Dean J. Tully, 59, of Manchester, the beloved husband of Helen T. (O’Connell) died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.  Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Lucille (Macri) Tully and was a lifelong resident.  He was a graduate of Cheney Tech High School and DeVry Institute. He was employed at the State of Connecticut DEEP.

Dean enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, with his sons.  His number one love, though, was his wife and his boys.  He was a scout leader and active with the Boy Scouts as his sons grew up, and always cherished attending their sporting events whether it be soccer or football.  He was a proud father who appreciated his kids.  His passion for cars came through in rebuilding Mustangs with his sons and his dad. Helen and Dean enjoyed almost weekly rides to the beach.  A great friend and a go to guy, who loved a good meal with family and friends, especially the Friday afternoon pizzas in the garage with his dad.

Grateful for sharing his life with his wife of 32 years, he is survived by his children Shane Tully and Ryan Tully, both of Manchester; his siblings, Dorothy Zarrella and her husband Lou of Manchester, Kim Griffith and her husband Ken of Mitchell, SD, and Alan Tully and his wife Heidi of Concord, NC; his step-mother Shirley Tully of Manchester; his uncle Fred Tully and Maryann of Hill City, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 21st from 4-6 pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester.  A memorial service will be held immediately following at 6 pm.
