Rita M. Egan, 78, the wife of Richard T. Egan died on Friday (June 1, 2007) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Pittsfield, MA the daughter of Victor and Catherine (Pyrzanowski) Mierzejewski she had lived in Manchester since 1961. Rita worked as a Bookkeeper with General Motors and later as an Office Manager at Sherwin Williams. She was a former member of the Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters and a former leader for both the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She is a communicant of the Church of the Assumption and a member of the Ladies Guild. Besides her husband Dick she is survived by her children and their spouses Catherine and Vincent Pleckaitis of Glastonbury, Thomas and Trudy Egan of Los Angeles, CA and Elizabeth and William Gould of East Sandwich, MA, her grandchildren Alexandra and John Vincent Pleckaitis and Benjamin and Ellery Gould, her brother Richard Mierzejewski and sister Catherine Mlynarczyk both of Pittsfield, MA. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (6/5) at 10:15 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at the Church of the Assumption, Manchester with burial in St. James Cemetery.
