Bill St. Laurent

Obituary of Bill St. Laurent

William "Bill" St. Laurent, 83, of Manchester, CT passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2021. He was born on July 7, 1938, in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Sylvio and Ida Rose St. Laurent (Gervais). He attended Lawrence Memorial High School and was a United States Navy veteran. While stationed at Patuxent Naval Air Station in Maryland, he met his one and only love of 56 years, Linda Sue Barker.

Bill began his 25 year career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in 1965. He worked incredibly hard from the time he was a young boy in the shoe factories of Lawrence until he retired in 1992 from Pratt & Whitney. That hard work and the sacrifices that he and Linda made, paid off and they were able to enjoy 28 years of retirement together! He loved to drive and wouldn’t think twice about waking up in the morning and telling Linda they were heading off for a day trip to Maine, stopping along at one of his favorite places, Salisbury Beach to watch the seals and grab a slice at Tripoli’s Pizza or dropping by to see his brother and sister-in-law in New Hampshire for a dinner out. When not taking day trips, Bill and Linda spent many winters in their favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, SC or visiting Linda’s family in the south.

Bill was a force of nature who was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He was a devoted husband and cherished his wife. They could sit for hours just watching the world and enjoying each other’s company, not even having to say a word. He loved to dance with Linda and still held her hand as if they were newlyweds. He was a loving father and was unendingly proud of his daughter Lisa and his son, Michael and his daughter in law Stacy. Papa adored all of his grandchildren and was present for every milestone in their lives. He was their role model who always made them feel safe and loved. Some of their happiest memories are of their time with their Papa.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda St. Laurent (Barker) and his children, Michael and his wife Stacy, his daughter, Lisa St. Laurent and his younger brother Theodore VanDoorne and his wife Shirlene of Nashua, NH. Bill, aka “Papa” was an adored role model to his grandchildren, Nathan and Tyler Henault and Heidi and Libby St. Laurent. He will be greatly missed by many more family members, friends and neighbors.

We are forever grateful to the Manchester Memorial Hospital ICU team of nurses, doctors and staff for the compassionate care and support received.
