Obituary of Betty Savino

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Savino, 63, of Manchester, the wife of Stephen Savino, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 11, 2021.  Born in Windsor, she was predeceased by her parents Frank and Gladys (Anderson) Brown, as well as her brother Robert Brown. Betty was a 1976 graduate of Windsor High School, and received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Connecticut.  She was employed as a microbiologist with Quest Diagnostics for many years up to her retirement in 2016. A longtime member of Trinity Covenant Church, she was active with their music program and enjoyed performing with their Crossfire group of many years.  Betty always fondly remembered her mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.  An avid athlete, she received her 2nd Black Belt in Taekwondo and taught the sport to children in Avon.  She was also an accomplished tennis player, competing in various summer and winter leagues.  Betty had a great love of music as well, was a talented guitar player and pianist, and currently was a member of the Manchester Chorale.  She was proud to have sung the National Anthem at Dillon Stadium for the first Women’s Football game in Connecticut. 

A remarkable wife and friend who will be sadly missed by many.  In addition to Steve, her husband of 28 years, she is survived by her sister-in-law Annette and husband Wayne Boyko of Windsor, nieces Karen Wagner of Hamilton, OH, and Amy Provost of Middletown, nephews Wayne Boyko, Jr. and Greg Boyko of Windsor; great-nephews Steve and Aaron Wagner of Hamilton, OH; numerous cousins from Rhode Island, the Andersons and the Bartletts; and many friends, including Lynn MacMullen, and the Phelps family from Warner Robbins, GA.
