Obituary of Roger Somerville
Roger Somerville, originally from Manchester, passed away August 13, after a brief illness. Born May 1, 1944, son of John & Ruth Somerville, he leaves behind his wife Frances, and his children, Lindsey Somerville of Tolland, Amy Somerville and husband Phil Basquiat of Manchester, Jennifer Snow and husband Ray of Tolland and James Fitzpatrick of Texas.
Roger loved his grandchildren, Paige and Avery Basquiat, Mackenzie and Mason Snow. He also leaves his close cousin Richard Olson and wife Carole of Coventry, his niece Kelly Olson and great niece Emma.
Roger obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCONN and later went on to pursue a degree from the School of Banking at Williams College. Roger had a long career with the Savings Bank of Manchester as a Senior Executive in commercial lending.
He was a long-standing member of Manchester Country Club and continued his passion for golf after retiring to Florida.
Roger enjoyed volunteering for charitable organizations, he loved fishing, UCONN Women’s basketball, his trips to Dunkin Donuts, and most of all his family.
Roger had an infectious laugh that would light up a room. He will be dearly missed.
