Obituary of John McFadyen

John (Jack) O’Neill McFadyen, 82, of Sebastian, FL formerly of East Hartford, CT, died on June 23^rd, 2021, at Bristol Hospital. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Mary (O’Neill) McFadyen.  Jack was a proud master carpenter at the young age of 19, graduating from Stow College School of Building in Glasgow, Scotland becoming a member of the Glasgow Master Wrights & Builders Association.  He worked in the River Clyde shipyard customizing the interior of the ships and later was a self-employed carpenter when he immigrated to the USA with his family in 1976.  Besides his carpentry skills, he was knowledgeable of all the other trades, always available to lend a hand to anyone who asked. Jack competed in ballroom dancing competitions as a young adult in Scotland as well as an avid billiards and dart player, playing in many leagues.  He was a devoted loving husband and father who was mild mannered and easy going, enjoying the simple things in life including spending time with his family, watching soccer, and playing pool. In addition to his loving wife, Hannah (Cameron) of 59 years, he is survived by his children; Kenneth McFadyen, Alan McFadyen, Constance and her husband John Tierinni, daughter-in-law Angela McFadyen and a sister with whom he shares a birthday, Moira Ferguson. Jack is also survived by Megan Sadler, who was like another daughter, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John McFadyen Jr., and his sisters, Sadie Head, and Ina Hendry.

Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. Manchester on Monday, July 26th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow.
