Obituary of Mary Ann Sartor

Mary Ann (Gozdz) Sartor, age 81, of Manchester, beloved wife of Frederick Sartor passed away  unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Mary Ann was born in Manchester, Connecticut on February 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Kurys) Gozdz.  She graduated from Manchester High School and continued her education at Manchester Community College.

After meeting her husband on a blind date, they were together from that day on.  They were married on October 22, 1960 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She worked for the Town of Manchester in various capacities for a number of years.  Mary Ann was an active member of the Manchester Garden Club and a dedicated parishioner of Saint Bartholomew Church.

Mary Ann was a wonderful wife, mother and Gramma.  She was the #1 fan at her grandkids sporting events, concerts and plays.  She loved spending time in her garden, summer vacations at Point O’ Woods Beach and trips with friends.

Along with her husband Fred, she leaves her four children, Joanne (Michael) Lowry, Christine (Scott) Baer, Amy (Reggie) Griffin and Steven (Tricia) Sartor; six grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Nina, Morgan, Kayla, Reece and sister-in-law, Antoinette Paul.  In addition, she leaves an extended family full of special cousins, aunts, nieces, and nephews.  Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan (Gozdz) Volkert.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, April 5, 2021, at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1318 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury.  For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
