Rudolph E. Capello, 86, beloved husband and best friend of Joan Benson Capello, passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2021. Rudy and Joan would have been married 65 years on June 2,  and have been inseparable since they were 16 years old. Rudy was born October 8, 1934, at home in Manchester, CT, to Michael and Mary ( Bianco ) Capello.

Along with his wife Joan, he leaves his 3 much loved children, Jill Capello Casey and husband Justin, of MA, Gina Capello, of CT, and Rudy, Jr. and his partner David Malinowski, of CT. He leaves 3 wonderful grandchildren, Jason Capello and wife Jen, of NY, Sara Koopmans and husband Ken, of MI, and Aram DerAprahamian, of CT. He also leaves his 2 great-grandsons, John and Jackson Capello, and his 2 great-granddaughters, Grace and Catherine Koopmans. Rudy leaves two sisters, Josephine Johnson and Gloria Hautanen, and two foster sisters, Lois Hampson and Diane Gretzinger. He was predeceased by his sister Irene Egan, and his brother, Michael. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the proud owner of Custom Carte Commissary in Manchester, for over 30 years. Rudy was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army, First Calvary Division, and served from 1952-1955 in Hokkaido, Japan.

Rudy was happiest when cooking for his family, whatever the occasion and he was an avid Mall walker who logged many miles with his friends. He enjoyed skiing in Vermont, antiquing, holidays with family and friends, and loved Disney World, having been there with family many times. He loved cars and owned many. He never missed a Saturday morning having coffee with his friend Luca. Rudy was a remarkable person who was loved and admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He always put others before himself, and he was a generous, kind and caring person. He had a great sense of humor and truly did it his way. Rudy will be deeply missed but not forgotten.

Donations in Rudy’s name can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
