Obituary of Carolyn Pelletier

Carolyn Ann Pelletier (Fortin) 70, of South Windsor Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15^th at Hartford Hospital.  Carolyn was a beloved wife of the late Joseph “Leroy” Pelletier, for 49 years.

Carolyn was born on August 18^th, 1950 in Fort Kent, Maine, daughter of Wilfred and Rella (Caron) Fortin.  Carolyn grew up with her parents and siblings in Fort Kent.  She moved to Connecticut after graduating high school and met the love of her life – Leroy.  Ironically enough, he was also from Fort Kent but they met in Connecticut.  They started their own family spending their early years in East Hartford and developed some of their closest friendships.  The stories from Manor Circle and Jonathon Lane live on to this day, so many laughs, lifelong friends and late nights.  Later on, moving to South Windsor Carolyn and Leroy were fixtures at the high school watching their boys compete and eventually retiring. 

Carolyn worked as a paralegal while raising her family, and more recently became a professional job recruiter for Apollo Professional Solutions.  Professional success always followed Carolyn, she was a people person, a story-teller, and enjoyed conversation, so recruiting was the perfect match; after an accomplished career she just recently retired.

Carolyn is survived by her 2 sons and daughter in laws Eric and Amy Pelletier of Severna Park Maryland and Lee and Sue Pelletier of Glastonbury Connecticut; her 2 granddaughters Ava and Olivia; grandsons Aaron and Ryan.  She is also survived by siblings and spouses; Wilfred, Jr and Rita Fortin, of Wolcott CT,  James and Lorraine Fortin of Fort Kent Maine, Phyllis and late husband Maurice Morin of Portland, Maine, Gladys and late husband Ted Hanson of Patten, Maine, Robert  and Diane Fortin of Bloomfield, CT, and her twin sister Marilyn and Duane Plourde of Fort Kent, Maine.

Carolyn will always be remembered as a kind and giving person, who had a knack for remembering even the smallest of details relating to events and interests of her family and friends.  She always had an “open door” and more often than not, her home was filled friends and family.  Carolyn regularly opened her home to the less fortunate during the holidays, everyone was always welcome and she never turned down a driveway conversation.

Carolyn had a strong love of sports and enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball on TV with Leroy and her “boys”.  But most of all she could be found sitting in the stands and cheering “loud and proud” for her favorite baseball, soccer and track players, which were her grandsons.  She rarely missed a game.  Her grandsons would look forward to the “after game” snack and goodies she would bring, and would always have some money for the ice cream truck.  Although Carolyn was most familiar with sons and grandsons, her heart and love grew more once she was finally blessed with her precious granddaughters and she was grateful to experience sweetness of “her dolls” frequently visiting Maryland.

Carolyn will always be remembered for her generosity and was one of a kind, heaven will never be the same.  As the song goes, she did it her way.
