Obituary of Patricia F. Nylin

Patricia Fogarty Nylin, 82, of Old Lyme, Connecticut passed away on Monday January 18, 2021 in Cape Coral, Florida..

Pat was born in Manchester, Connecticut to Bernard and Catherine Fogarty on November 8,1938. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1956 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in history and education from the Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts and her master's degree in education from Eastern Connecticut State University. In 1984, she moved to Charlton, Massachusetts when she married.

Over her 40-year career, Pat taught fourth and sixth grade social studies in the Manchester school system at the Manchester Green Elementary School, Verplank Elementary School, and Bennett Middle School. Pat led the kindergarten-to-Grade 8 social studies curriculum committee for over 20 years, mentored countless early career teachers, and was awarded the 1999-2000 Teacher of the Year at Bennett Middle School. In retirement, Pat stayed connected with her colleagues as a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Manchester. Pat was also active with the Red Hat Society of Charlton, Ma. and Vernon, Ct.

Pat traveled extensively and enjoyed many cruises. Summers were spent at her home in Point O'Woods in Old Lyme, CT. She enjoyed reading, gardening, attending productions at the Goodspeed Opera House, and following local and world events.

Pat was blessed with many lifelong friends and family members including the Kehoes, O'Learys, Duhamels, Brooks, Carpentiers, her "Kindergarten Girlfriends" June Vendrillo of Tamworth, New Hampshire, Connie Lamoureaux Kaminski of South Windsor, Marcia Albro Krafjack of Vernon, and Joan as well as her communities in Charlton and at Point O'Woods. For many years she served as the Point O' Woods Women's Club Secretary, volunteered with the Charlton Helping Hands Society, and served on the Board of Directors at Venture Community Services of Worcester, Massachusetts.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Ellenmary Fogarty, and aunt Mary Fraher. She is survived by her brother John Fogarty of Cape Coral, FL; her niece Michelle Fogarty of Broomfield, CO; and her nephew Jeffrey Morin, his wife Cathy and son Troy Morin of South Windsor, CT and daughter Meghan Murphy of Manchester.
