Stanley Wegrzyn

Obituary of Stanley Wegrzyn

Stanley Wegrzyn 73 longtime resident of Manchester passed away peacefully Thursday December 31, 2020 at Middlesex Hospital. Stan was born in West Germany on April 8, 1947 son of the late Francizek and Genowefa (Trela) Wegrzyn and they immigrated to the United States post World War II in 1950.  Stanley started working in Manchester Hospital's Food Services Department through a program when he graduated from high school, and stayed there for over 30 years. He loved the Peach Festival in Manchester, and lived at Mayfair Garden, as well as Holiday Manor prior to moving to West Hartford. Stanley loved Polish food and was known to put vinegar on almost anything before eating it! He was mischievous yet had a reserved demeanor with a wonderful sense of humor. Stanley loved animals and he really was one of a kind.  He is survived by his sister Krystyna Brainard and brother John Wegrzyn both of Manchester.  Stanley leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Kathleen Benton, who was the love of his life. In addition he leaves behind many friends from Manchester and West Hartford, where he lived in recent years.  He will be missed by so many people, including his conservator of 23 years, Amy Thompson, and the other Social Workers at Senior, Adult and Family Services for the Town of Manchester, as well as the wonderful staff members that worked with him through Mosaic and New Seasons.  For condolences online please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com
