Wannetta, what a lovely tribute this is to your Dad, for he was truly one of the greatest men of all time! I met Roy & Marlene in December 1993 when I was a newly divorced Mom of two preschoolers. It turned out to be one of those historic winters with more snow than we could deal with. I’d be out there at 5 am shoveling before the kids woke up, and 10 pm after the kids were in bed, desperately trying to throw the snow over the 4’ bank at the bottom of the driveway. Your Dad would come across the street with his big snow blower, not saying a word, just helping me get the job done. I once brought him a freshly baked apple pie to say thank you and you would have thought I brought him a bag of gold, he was so genuinely surprised! When, several years later, I was finally able to buy a snow blower of my own he guided me in what to look for. After that, your Dad and I would help out the neighbors together, waving from across the street at each other. If you were to look up he phrase “salt of the earth,” I swear a there would be a picture of Roy. You’re a very lucky woman because you got to be his little girl. Wishing you comfort.

Wannetta, I am saddened to hear this news. Your dad was the sweetest man, with a great sense of humor. I remember, as a kid, your mom and dad would come visit almost every summer. They and my parents would sit at the table and play cards late into the night. Uncle Roy was so quiet, but your mom....that laugh of hers was so infectious. Such a special couple, now they are together again. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending love, Lorrie
