I met Mrs. Briggs long ago when I would occasionally visit her home with my friend Richard (her son) after we played basketball or whatever. But in high school, you see them but you don't really get to know your friend's parents. But I really got to know her over the last 10 years when I moved back to CT and reconnected with Richard. She liked to watch the UCONN games with us, and always had made something for us to eat like cookies or pies. I started to get to know her better and found her to always be cheerful and energetic. During the last few years, she had various ailments, but remained positive. Liz and I started playing cards with her at the nursing home, and found her to be very hard to beat. It was a little hard to take that we couldn't beat a 98 year old, but she was always a gracious winner. We had to stop playing because of Covid, but we were looking forward to starting again when things settled down. We will miss those games, her kind smile and positive attitude, and hope some of it will stay with us. Rest in Peace Mrs Briggs - from Joe and Liz Golec.

I worked with "Joe" back in the 80's @ SW Nursing Home. She was an exceptional role model to me and a great supervisor! She taught me well how to problem solve and I utilized what she taught me throughout my entire nursing career. Then the tides turned. I was able to care for her at MM last yr. and we reminisced about the old days and had many a good laugh! She was truly a great
exceptional human being and a very compassionate and kind nurse. I feel so very fortunate to have worked with her & taken care of her. RIP "JOE", Sincerely, Maureen Yonkauski RN
