Obituary of Stanley Sieminski

Stanley Joseph Sieminski, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, November 26th, surrounded by his family. Born on March 23, 1921 in Sugar Notch P.A. he was the youngest son of the late August and Anna Poplowski Siemienski. Stan was pre-deceased by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years,Theresa Dorothy Simboski Sieminski in 1997. The first time they met was at the Polish National Home at a dance. He was also predeceased by his beloved son, Stanley Brian in 1991. Stan was the last of eight children and was pre-deceased by 4 brothers; Eddie, Vince John, and Leo and 3 sisters; Sally Kinel, Florence Obuchowski and Regina Vecchio . He was also predeceased by two nieces who were sisters; Gloria Gueller and Joan Topping. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law Carol Ann and Donald Ross Patterson; his two adoring Grand Children Lindsay Morgan and Alexy Joseph. He and his wife had lived in South Windsor for many years prior to his move. Stan and the Patterson family built a home together in the town of Vernon in which he cohabitated with them for twelve years. He served our country in the Army during World War II. He worked as a member of a crew that set up, loaded, and fired a heavy 81-mm mortar to place toxic gas, shells, or smoke shells on enemy positions. He used firing tables to determine necessary charge. Stan was in the 1st wave at the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944 with the 1st Army Division, the 3rd Army Division and back to the 1st Division in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg. He crossed the Siegfried Line and served in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He served under General Patton with the 3rd Army Division in Germany and France. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. Stan left Pratt & Whitney Aircraft to serve our country after working there for 3 and a- half years. He returned after the war ended in 1945, and retired in 1979 after working as a Machine Operator for another 33 years of service. He will be deeply missed and his memory cherished by his family, many nieces and nephews, his caregivers who became his extended family; with special thanks to Tracie Witkowski and her daughter Lindsay, Joellen Katz and Lisa Saucier all from a Helping Hand Home Care, his former Nurse's Aide Teresa Dorsey and special thanks to the Vernon VNA Hospice Nurses and caregivers for their compassion and care throughout Stan's short illness. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (December 3rd) at 9:15 a.m. from The John F. Tierney Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester with a mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint James Church 896 Main Street Manchester followed by a burial with full Military Honors.
