Kathleen Harrington

Obituary of Kathleen A. Harrington

Kathleen Ann “Kelly” Yorgensen Harrington was born on December 30, 1959 at St Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT to Harry P. Yorgensen, Jr. and the late Janice Eileen Murray Yorgensen. Raised in Manchester, CT, Kelly was a force to be reckoned with from the very beginning. A force for goodness, a force for Love, a force for laughter, for freedom, for adoration and education of her five brothers, for supporting and defending her friends and relatives, for  making the day better for each person she met along the way. She believed in God, Family, friends, music, arts, and animals (especially dogs). She loved as intensely as she lived, and that was all a lot to handle for those that knew and loved her most. Kelly made experiencing each minute with her a particular kind of joy to behold, a joy that anyone fortunate enough to spend time with her could carry with them throughout their lives. She was the only daughter in a   family of six children. She was granted first dibs on the bathroom in the morning, the 3rd piece of our monthly treat of pizza (after Mom & Dad, of course), and the best of whatever else could be afforded her, and she was worth it all. She was a perfect daughter, sister, friend, and mother

—even though she was imperfect like the rest of us. She was a friend, a teacher, a protector, a promoter of fun, an artist, a dancer, an aficionado of music, a role model for good and bad, an organizer of mischief, a designer of great times, an easy laugher, a joke cracker, a complete support system, the strongest fragile angel that would put you in your place when warranted. She had intelligence, beauty, humor, wit, will, and a zest for living like a child with a bowl of ice cream on a hot July day. She could waterski, cook, swim, draw, paint, knit, embroider, cheerlead, parent, expertly work a chop saw, and provide you with a world class haircut. All in the same day. Kelly was independent, capable, assertive, forgiving, loyal, and she loved her immediate and extended family with a passion and interest in their well being that everyone should emulate.

In addition to her beloved father Harry, she is survived by her cherished son Wade Harrington  of East Hartford, her brothers Kevin Yorgensen and his wife Siobhan, Robert Yorgensen and his wife Linda, Mark Yorgensen and his wife Erica, and Michael Yorgensen and his wife Karen.

Kelly was also predeceased by her brother Jeffrey Michael Yorgensen.
