Agnes Pine

Obituary of Agnes F. Pine

Agnese (Ag) Francoline of Stafford Springs, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 from COVID-19, at the amazing age of 104.  She was born April 11, 1916 in Hartford and grew up on Franklin Avenue – known as Little Italy.  She was predeceased by her husband Everett “Bill” Pine and 7 siblings.

Ag graduated from Buckley High School and in her youth worked at G. Fox Department store in downtown Hartford.  During World War II she worked at the top secret Los Alamos, New Mexico atomic bomb testing site.  She returned to Connecticut and was employed at Pratt & Whitney until she retired.

She enjoyed New York City’s vibrant night life and other travels.  She treasured a photo of herself enjoying an evening at the famed Copacabana night club with Anthony Quinn, Anne Bancroft and Robert Morley.

She danced often at senior centers in various towns until she was 90. She loved romance and a handsome man, which is why she was never without her lipstick.  She also had an eye for high fashion and jewelry.  She spent most of her life in high heel shoes.  She was known as the “shoe lady” at the Evergreen Health Care Center where she resided.  Her room was full of her collection of miniature shoes.

Ag was beloved by all her many nieces and nephews, especially her devoted niece Sandy Cinfo.

The family would like to thank her health care providers at Evergreen for their exceptional care and kindness, especially her aide of 6 years, Becky Nash.

Ag was a remarkable woman with a love of life that never dimmed.

A celebration of life honoring Ag will be held at a later date and time to be announced.

Memorial donations may be sent to Evergreen Heath Care Center, 205 Chestnuthill Road, Stafford Springs, CT 06076 for personal protection equipment or a food bank of your choice.
