Obituary of Rachel E. Shive

Rachel E. (Doyon) Shive, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1^, 2020, surrounded by the love of her five children at Vernon Manor, Vernon CT.  Rachel was born on January 11, 1932 in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of the late Omar and Germaine Doyon. She was the wife of Peter T. Shive, Sr. who preceded her in death in November of 2006. She was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother, with a deep passion for the simple joys in life and spending time with her family. She found great comfort and guidance through her strong Catholic faith and had a deep love for the Blessed Mother. 

Rachel is survived by five of her children and their spouses, Danny and Susan Roberts of Manchester, Susan and Jay Kopecki of Coventry, Barbara Mullins of West Hartford, Peter T. Shive, Jr. of Newington, Michelle Shive & Edward Hovan of Bolton and the late Steven Shive and his wife Pam of East Hartford. She was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.  She is survived by her sister, Jean Thurston, with her husband Bill, who reside in Florida.  

Her brother, Wesley Doyon, and his wife, Peggy, preceded her in death.  Rachel will joyfully be reunited in heaven with her granddaughter, Hayley Mullins.  

Due to current restrictions, there will be no calling hours and the services will be private.  There will be a celebration of her life at a future date, to be announced by the family.
