I'm so sorry to read about your beautiful boy. I know the disease of addiction is not who Brendan was, it was an illness he had. His short life made a difference, you are not alone. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Brendan sent this message to my husband and me, and I would like to send it back to Brendan.
One seed can start a garden, one smile can lift a spirit.
One candle can light a room, one conversation can start a friendship.
One step can begin a journey, one heart can love many
One person can make all the difference--that one is you, Brendan.
God bless Brendan. God bless his mom, dad, and brothers.

We are so very saddened and heartbroken to read about Brendan's passing. Our thoughts are with your family at this time of sorrow. We hope that people will also remember Brendan for the fine man that he was, lost under the weight of his addiction. We appreciate your courage in shedding light on the disease of substance use disorder. We know the pain that this disease brought on Brendan and his loved ones. This week was the fourth anniversary of our son Tim's passing from this same disease. We have been so very honored to feature your poem, "When we speak out" about your experience, on our website. Thank you for remembering our mission. John Lally, Executive Director, Today I Matter, Inc.
