Obituary of Michael Roy Borden

Michael Roy "Mike" Borden, age 55, died unexpectedly in Manchester, CT on November 1, 2019.

Mike is survived by his father, John Clarence Borden, “Jack”, of Merrifield, MN; wife, Diane; and children, Wesley, Olivea, Audrey, Mikey and Elaina. He is preceded in death by his mother, Laureen Estelle (Winch) Borden.

Mike was born on February 10, 1964 in Brainerd, MN. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1988 with a degree in Communications. He and Diane (Palm) Borden were married in 1995 in Chicago, IL. The couple’s five children were born there, while Mike and Diane were living and working with Jesus People USA. The family moved to Fort Collins, CO in 2004 where Mike primarily worked in maintenance, and later became an Uber driver. His children remember him as the kindest, gentlest, most patient father, who encouraged them to be their best selves.  

Mike was accomplished at fixing anything, brewing beer and putting others at ease. He was a generous hearted individual whose delight for life impacted us all. His laugh was explosive, and regularly heard. Mike had a deep affection for hot sauce, and incredible luck in winning contests and drawings, but his deepest affection and luckiest win was known to be his wife, Diane. A newer addition to the Trinity Covenant Church family in Manchester, he remains in the hearts of those at Council Tree Covenant Church of Fort Collins, Nueva Generacion Covenant Church in Ameya Nicaragua, and Uptown Church in Chicago. 

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday November 9, 2019 at 10 am, at Trinity Covenant Church, with a reception to follow. Reverends Peter Kim and Bert Wright will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
