Obituary of Kathie Mills

Longtime resident of Manchester CT, Kathie Mills, 69, wife of Daniel Mills, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019.  She passed in a peaceful state, at St. Francis Hospital with her son, Luis Mendoza, by her side.  Kathie was one of five children born to the late Harold and Edna Stearns, born in Burlington, VT.  Besides her husband, Kathie is survived by her son Luis Mendoza and his wife Claudia (Andover, CT); her grandchildren Isabella, Juliana & Valentina; her brother Winfred and wife Joyce Stearns of Winsted.  She is predeceased by her brother Clarence Stearns and her sisters Theresa Stearns and Evelyn Letarte.

Kathie was raised on a dairy farm and moved to CT in her late teen years.  She was employed with Aetna in her early twenties.  She transited from corporate to other positions including: Hartford Courant paper carrier, early child care staff member, and in-home child care.  Kathie's love for people and children was clear.  She participated in numerous volunteering events.  Kathie helped even when she was financially struggling.  She believed that we should all help the less fortunate.  Kathie's love and devotion to children was clear, spending countless hours with her three granddaughters.

Family and friends are welcome to join them for calling hours on Friday, September 27th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT.  A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Church in Windsor Locks, CT at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 28th and her final resting will be at the Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks, CT immediately following the church service.  All angels are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a non-profit of choice in Kathie's name.
