Kenneth Bain Jr.

Obituary of Kenneth John Bain Jr.

Kenneth ‘Butch’ John Bain Jr., 59 left his earthly home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, July 10th. After a difficult battle with aggressive lung cancer, he passed far too soon- but surrounded with love.

Ken was a proud and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved: his family, and especially his beloved wife of 37 years, Yvonne. They met in 9th grade at R.H.A.M. and she really was all he ever wanted, right up to his last breath.

Ken always wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself. He was a doer; a fixer; a jokester, and he touched the lives of many:

In work, he always found jobs to help others- in everything from delivering newspapers, being a burner technician, or transporting/setting up medical equipment; willing to do it all and he found ways to spread his special brand of humor and brighten someone's day. His last job at ProCaire (making a difference by delivering oxygen and medical supplies to hospitals and nursing homes) became more like a joy; and the team there was more like family- they especially went above and beyond when Ken received his diagnosis and his family is very grateful.

In his personal life, he was an active member of the Hebron Lions and loved helping with the fair. The last few years he was excited to help run the 'Family Edutainment' area at the fair to care for the kids and animals alike. Ken was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage and worked hard at learning and playing the bagpipes with Manchester Regional Police and Fire Pipe Band. One of his greatest accomplishments there was being able to go to Germany to play his bagpipes with the band at a Military Tattoo. Ken was also a member of The Worship Center in Hebron. He looked forward to their monthly potlucks and always advised, ‘Life’s short, eat dessert first!’

Ken was born in East Hartford, but spent most of his life in Andover and Hebron, Ct. He graduated Lyman Memorial High School in 1978. He loved spending time up North.

Sorrowfully, in addition to the love of his life, his wife Yvonne; Ken left behind two daughters: Jacquline Kitchen and her husband Nathan of Manchester, Ct, Jessica Stack and her husband Robert Stack Jr. of Newington Ct; two step children: David Attardo and his wife Leigh Ann of Tolland, Ct, and Heather Attardo and her fiance, Todd Michels of Green Lane, PA; two beautiful grandchildren Alexia Hope Kitchen and Robert “Buddy” Stack III; and innumerous family and friends that will mourn his great loss.
