Obituary of Roman Perez Jr.

Roman Perez Jr., 65, died peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut surrounded by his loving family. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Zoraida Perez, his son Daniel R. Perez and his wife Shannon; his daughter Emily M. Perez Smith and her husband Joseph; his grandchildren: Damien J. Smith, Nixon D. Perez, Aliyana A. Smith and A.J. Roman Smith; his three sisters: Ibin Colon and her husband Justino, Itala Pereira and her husband Segundo, and Ruth LaMonica; and numerous caring family members and friends.  He is predeceased by his father and mother, Roman Perez Sr. and Luz Maria Velasquez Perez.

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, he attended the Christian Missionary Alliance where he was a member of the church choir and was routinely featured in solos where his resounding tenor voice echoed praises to his God.  Shortly after graduating from New York High School of Printing, he accepted a job as a security guard at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, New York, an internationally acclaimed medical institution known for its excellence in research, patient care, and education across a range of specialties.  He dedicated 34 years to his profession, and his loyal commitment led him to rise above his peers to become Operations Manager for hospital security. 

Roman was a diehard New York Yankees fan and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited on Saturday, June 22, 2019 to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street Manchester, CT at 9AM for a period of visitation prior to the 10AM funeral service. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT.
