Yolanda (Vince) Burns, 82, a lifelong resident of Manchester, CT died peacefully Thursday, (March 31, 2005) surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William E. Burns for 22 years until his death in 1967. Born in Manchester on June 10, 1922 daughter of the late Angelo and Concetta Vince. She graduated from Manchester High School. She was a homemaker and held various jobs. Prior to her retirement, Yolanda was employed at Pioneer Parachute. She was an avid bowler having once won a Town Championship. She was always busy gardening, woodworking, crocheting afghans, knitting, rug hooking and sewing. Amongst all of these talents she was best known and admired for her detailed and beautiful handmade quilts, which were her passion. She could turn scraps of material into incredible works of art. She reserved time weekly to play cards with her very close friends. She is survived by her dear friend and companion of many years Casimer "Cas� Skowronski, her children, Linda Meadows and her husband Carl of Andover, Gary Burns and his wife Anne of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Dennis Burns of Tolland, JoAnn Whitaker and her husband Rich of Manchester, her grandchildren, Theresa Aube, Lori Burns, Kevin Meadows, Jason Meadows, Matt Whitaker and Leah Whitaker as well as her five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by eight brothers, Albert, John, Pasquale, Salvatore, William, Henry, Louis and George Vince and one sister Mary Adair. Funeral service will be Tuesday (April 5, 2005) 9:45 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery Manchester.
