Obituary of Mary E. Taft

Mary Elizabeth (DiFazio) Taft, "Maye,� passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on Sunday, March 13, 2005. Maye was born on October 8, 1921, the youngest child of Paul and Vincenzina DiFazio. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ward, after 59 years of marriage. She is also predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, Pat DiFazio, Lucien DiFazio and Rose Derry. May was born in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford. She began her working career at Fuller Brush and then joined in the family restaurant business, The Club Chianti, in Manchester. Maye not only raised her five loving children, she cared for her aging mother for over twenty years, and then she continued caring for her grandchildren. Maye is remembered for the living faith she shared and passed on to her children, her constant prayer life, and her wonderful joy of cooking�especially her "pizza frita� and Easter bread. Maye is survived by her dear children and their spouses, Wardene and John Crowley, Michael Taft and Mary Cardin, Ralph and Jo Ann Taft, Paul and Kathy Taft, and Vicki and Carl Thomas. Grandchildren include Sarah Geisler, Alyson Hunter, Katie Duffy, Paul, Christie, Joseph, Megan, Courtney, and Brittany Taft and Melissa and Mark Mishriky; and three great-grandchildren, Paul and Brianna Taft and John Geisler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We know that grandma will continue praying for each of us in heaven. We rejoice that she is with her Lord and God and that her suffering days are over. We wish to thank the caring staff of Manchester Manor East Wing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 am at St. Bridget Church, Main St., Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association, Connecticut Chapter 96 Oak Street Hartford, CT 06106.
