Obituary of Astrid I. Shorey
Astrid I. Shorey, 83, of Bolton, the dearly loved wife of 39 years to Wayne [Sam] K. Shorey died Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Switzerland, she was the daughter of the late Thilo and Ingeborg Vogel. She was predeceased by her son James Klar. Astrid had retired from the Department of Modern Languages at Trinity College after many years of service as an Administrative Assistant. Astrid enjoyed ballroom dancing throughout her life with Sam, traveling, and hiking in the mountains of Austria for many years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Kate Broadfield and her husband Jamie of England, Peggy Shorey of Washington D.C., and Sandy Shorey of Willimantic; her grandson Brian Baxindale; her sister Ute Hufnagel and her husband Willi, and her brother Thilo Vogel and his wife Corolla both of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
