Obituary of Benjamin Sementilli

Benjamin Sementilli, 91, of New Britain, formerly of Enfield and Somers, the husband of the late Charlotte (McDade) Sementilli died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Jerome Home in New Britain.  Born in Bangor, ME, he was the son of the late Benedetto and Maria Sementilli.  He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a life member of the Enfield American Baptist Church.  He had retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after many years of service.  He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Ben enjoyed the company of his family and friends, especially time spent with his grandchildren and granddogs.  He is survived by his children David White, Donald Sementilli and his wife Dee of Lancaster, NY, Cynthia (Guinan) Sementilli of Manchester, Jim Sementilli of Manchester; and his grandchildren Nathan Guinan and his wife Lauren, Billy Guinan, Anna Hollander and her husband Ben, Julia and Grace Sementilli, and Charlotte and Amelia Sementilli.  He is also survived by his siblings Ernest Sementilli and his wife Jane of Texas, and Jeanette Money and her husband Chuck of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother Eugene and sister Rose.  The family would like to thank the staff at Jerome Home, Manchester Memorial and the Hospital of Central Connecticut for the kindness and compassionate care they provided to Ben. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2^nd at 12:00 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 - 12:00.  The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, family and friends might consider making a tax deductible donation to either the Jerome Home Resident Activity Fund or Best Friends Animal Society.
