Obituary of Eugene M. Bailey

Eugene M. Bailey Sr., 81, of South Windsor, husband of Nancy Kautz Bailey, died, Sunday, January 23rd at Kimberly Hall Nursing Home. He was born in Windham, CT, son of Theresa (Flynn) and Edward D. Bailey. He was a Graduate of St. Bonaventure University and received his Master�s Degree from University of Hartford. His teaching career started in Red Jacket Central, Manchester, N.Y. and he went on to teach at Sunset Ridge School in East Hartford. He later became Chairman of Guidance at Penney High School in East Hartford and after retirement he spent two years in the Guidance Department at East Catholic High School in Manchester, CT. He taught many years in the Hartford Adult Education Program and was a member of the National and Connecticut Education Association. In World War II he served in the 8th Air Force in the Air Depot Group of the 21st ADG. He was commissioned a Lay Minister in 1982 in the Norwich Diocese and was a life member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. He is survived by his children Michele and Terry Hollick, Patricia and Bill Atmore, Barbara Bailey, Lucille and Eugene Bailey Jr., Eileen and Daniel Bailey, Karen and David Bailey, Barbara Kautz, Judy and John Kautz Jr., Jody and Gary Waldron, and Mary Beth Marotto; his grandchildren, Christine (McCarthy) and Dan Geddes, Tom McCarthy, Ken, Christopher, Amanda and Allison Bailey, Luke Bailey, Courtney and Joe Tagliaferri, Jamie and Sean Bailey, Sarah (Kautz) Hoben, Michael E Tuckey Jr., John Kautz III, Jennifer and Ryan Waldron, Lindsay and Alex Marotto and a great-grandchild Michael Tuckey III. He leaves a brother and sister-in-law Joan and Tom Bailey, Rev. Deacon Bailey OFM. He was pre-deceased by his wife Joan Quigley Bailey, a son Mark and his sister Marion (Flynn) Bailey. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (January 26, 2005) at 9:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. James Church, Main St. Manchester, burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 TODAY.
