Obituary of Louis Dascanio

Louis Dascanio, 93 longtime resident of Bolton, passed away peacefully Wednesday January 9th, 2019 at Manchester Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Portland, Maine on July 14, 1925 son of the late Giuseppe and Angelina (DiFazio) Dascanio. Louis served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theater. He was the widower of Dorothy Dascanio who preceded him in October of 2012. Louis was a master cabinet maker and carpenter. As a young man he worked at architectural woodworking firms in the Hartford area that created beautiful church interiors, windows and millwork. In 1968 he opened Custom Kitchen Center in Manchester which later became Manchester Kitchen & Bath. He and his sons completed many hundreds of home renovations in the Manchester and greater Hartford area. He also built several custom homes including the family vacation home on Cape Cod where he loved boating and the ocean. Louis and Dorothy traveled extensively in Europe, the United States and Canada. He is survived by his three sons Edward Dascanio of Bolton, Steven (Sandro Giannelli) of Florence Italy, Allan (Debbie) Dascanio of Manchester, and grandson Edward Jr. of Colorado. Along with both parents and his wife he was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister. Funeral services are private and the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of arrangements.
