Obituary of Mildred A. Waldman

Mildred A. Waldman, 103, of Manchester, the widow of Dr. Bernard Waldman, passed away on Saturday January 5, 2019 at her home.  Born in Alstead, NH on January 25, 1915 to Carroll E. and Myrtie (Kidder) Hatch, she graduated from the Lawrence and Memorial Associated Hospital in 1935 and worked as a Registered Nurse.  She was a communicant of St. James Church since 1946 and was a volunteer with the Manchester Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, The Penny Saver and also the Children Services of CT.  Mildred was an avid walker, swimmer, boating enthusiast and began downhill skiing at the age of 71.  In 1990 she won her division as a walker for the Manchester Road Race.

Mildred is survived by her son Dr. William Waldman and his wife Lise of Somers, daughter Joan O’Donnell and her husband Tom of Mahwah, NJ; grandchildren Sarah Guzinski (Ronald), Elizabeth Choi (Andrew), Amy Noland (Joshua), Dr. Bernard Waldman (Nayeli), Julie Waldman (Rajan Bansi) and Nadine Waldman (Adam Jackson); and 12 great grandchildren.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Hatch and Timer Hatch.

Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester on Thursday January 10^th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday January 9^th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT 06489.  For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
