Obituary of William "Bill" Pagani

William (Bill) Pagani, 88, of Bolton, CT, husband of Patricia Halloran Pagani, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Hartford, CT. Born in Manchester, CT, Bill was the son of Balilla (Bill) and Julia Pagani. He graduated from Manchester High School, where he was a star baseball player who was scouted by the Boston Braves. His love of sports continued throughout his life. He was an avid UConn women's basketball fan, and one of his favorite activities was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Bill was a popular barber in Manchester, owning his own shop for many years and continuing to cut hair until 2015. He also worked as an inspector and union steward at Pratt & Whitney for 25 years. After his retirement, he spent hours every day working outdoors to ensure his lawn, garden, and property were meticulously kept, which brought him great satisfaction. He was also a dedicated and devout parishioner of St. James and Assumption Parish in Manchester for the past 80 years.

His family was his life. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children Linda (Tim Wolf), Sharon, and Beth Sweigard (Tim); grandchildren Michael, Lindsay, Danielle, and Alyssa; and great-grandchildren Josh, Nathan, Ethan, Amelia, and Noah. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Carlin and Patricia Rovetti, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Pagani Craig and his sister Mary Ann Mack.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Hartford Hospital for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided Bill in the final stage of his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams Street, Manchester. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be held at the John F.
