Obituary of Bartolomeo "Ben" DelMastro

Bartolomeo “Ben” P. DelMastro, 87, of Manchester, beloved husband of Theresa (Griffin) DelMastro for 63 years, died on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Ben was born March 10, 1931 in Hartford, son of the late John and Sofia (Monaco) DelMastro. He was raised in Hartford and was drafted and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Ben graduated from The University of Hartford and worked as a Design Engineer for UTC for over 36 years retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer who was a member of the Manchester Country club for 45 years. He loved photographing landscapes, the outdoors and friends and family. He also coached youth baseball and basketball. Both Ben and Theresa are long time communicants of St. James Church in Manchester.

In addition to his wife Theresa, he is survived by two children, David DelMastro and Diane DelMastro, two special cousins MaryAnn (Donald) Cagenello and Pat (Kathryn) DelMastro, three sister-in-laws Mary Powers, Deborah Kearney and Helen Griffin along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Antoinette Marino.

Ben’s family will be receiving callers on Thursday, December 13 from 4-7pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 14 at 12:00 Noon at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester followed by a burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.
