Obituary of Giuseppa (Saladino) Conforto

Giuseppa (Saladino) Conforto, 90, wife of the late Giacomo Conforto passed away on Thursday December 6, 2018. She was born in Sicily, Italy, on October 1, 1928, to the late Luciano and Giuseppa (Giametta) Saladino, She immigrated to the U.S. In 1968 with her husband and children to be with her Mother and siblings.  Giuseppa was an exceptional cook who loved to entertain her family and friends, especially on Sundays. Her pizza and bread will be remembered by all who knew her because of her selfless and generous nature. She also had a talent for knitting and left behind many hats for all to enjoy. She was the matriarch and pillar of our family. She was everyone’s Nonna.

She will be missed by her children Lou and wife Teresa Conforto, Anna and husband Ignazio Maggio, Michael and wife Maria Conforto; Her beloved grandchildren Antonino (Jackie) and Giacomo (Samantha) Maggio, Giacomo F. (Krystal) and Simone Conforto, Alison (Conforto) and husband Minh Le, Monica Conforto, and her last great joy, a great-grandson - Hunter. She also leaves behind one brother, Charlie Saladino and wife Enza, two sisters, Rose and Anna, sister-in-law Rose Saladino, and several dear nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

She was predeceased by one son, Michael, her nephew Daniel Saladino from Florida and Franco Saladino from Pisa,Italy; two sisters, Maria and Antonietta; three brothers, Acursio, Frank and Joseph. Also, many dear friends and family members.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Glastonbury Health Care Center for their support during these past few months.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday December 11th from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, CT. Funeral service will be at 12 p.m., followed by burial in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CT Children’s Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), or any children's charity of your choice, in memory of Giuseppa Conforto.
