Henry Lemire

Obituary of Henry Vincent Lemire

Henry Vincent Lemire, 96, of South Windsor & formerly of East Hartford passed away peacefully on November 15, 2018.  He was born in Lowell, MA, son of the late Wilfred and Yvonne Lemire.  Henry was a member of the greatest generation and served in the US Army in WWII in the European Theater.  Henry lived in East Hartford most of his life and retired from 47 years at Pratt & Whitney and 38 years at the US Postal Service, both full-time.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor Nolan Lemire, and three children Thomas and William Lemire, and Claudia Desomiers.  He was also predeceased by two brothers Alfred and George Lemire, and two sisters Barbara Roy and Terry Tucker.

He is survived by a sister Ida McLaughlin and brother Wilfred Joey Lemire Jr.  He is also survived by his children Norma and her husband Richard Rondeau of Willington, Carol Ward of East Hartford, Cynthia and her Husband Greg Carr of Greyslake, IL, Paul and Phyllis Lemire of the Villages, FL, Michael and Jan Lemire of Suffield, Ronald and Debora Lemire of Suffield, Mary Ann and her husband Donald Milligan of Ellington, Mary Jane Tabor of East Hartford, Eleanor (Renee) and her husband Glenn Zaugg of East Granby, Jeffrey and Ann Lemire of Middlefield, Jacqueline and her husband Robert Mackkinnon of Portland, and Michelle Jarvis of South Windsor.  In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren: John, David, Claudia, Kathy, Jason, Jessica, Kathleen, Gigi, Denise, Michael, Chris, Marcy, Megan, Jay, Nikki, Jimmy, Brittany, Colin, Ian, Sean, Shannon, Sherri, Kim, Danielle, Tyler, Brandon, Brett, Jay, Rachel, Emilie, Julia, Nate, Johnny, Sarah and numerous great-grandchildren. Needless to say, he was the epitome of a family man. His sense of humor brightened every occasion. He made it very clear that he loved and was proud of his entire family. The work ethic that he instilled on his children was second to none.  The family was blessed with many fond memories of summer vacations on Cape Cod, large family gatherings for every holiday, and last-minute ball games at Fenway.
