Obituary of Beatrice Sweeney

Beatrice E. "Bea� Sweeney, 98, died on Tuesday (January 18, 2004) in South Windsor. Born in Manchester the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Lillian (Rousseau) Sweeney she was a 1923 graduate of Manchester High School and had lived in Manchester for most of her life before moving to South Windsor five years ago. Bea was formerly employed at Watkins Brothers and retired after forty-three years of service from the Hartford Group. She was a member of the Ladies of St. James, the Business and Professional Women�s Club, a volunteer for the Auxiliary of Manchester Memorial Hospital and a member of the Manchester Historical Society. She is survived by her cousins Marie Puzzo and Kathleen Bienkowski and was predeceased by her sisters Lillian Cooley and Kathryn Tomlinson and her cousins Albert "Skip� Puzzo, Carol Puzzo Salafia, Michael J. Puzzo and Dorothy Dalton. Bea is also survived by her niece and nephews Richard Cooley, Marcia Sundin and John Cooley; her cousins Louise, Katherine, James, Jack Koepf and Gertrude Sweeney and several grand nieces and nephews. Bea�s family would like to offer a special note of thanks to Serennia Oprecht, her special care giver for the past two and a half years, for the wonderful care and compassion she showed her. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:15 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. James Church, Manchester with burial in St. James Cemetery.
