Obituary of Jean-Guy Gregoire Laprise

Jean-Guy Laprise, 78 of Wilmington, North Carolina peacefully passed away on September 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born August 8, 1940 in Nantes, Quebec, Canada to Emile and Irene (Mercier) Laprise.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Renald.

Guy is survived by his wife Celine (Roy) of 55 years who both love to travel around this beautiful county and abroad as well. He is also survived by his daughter Karen Rasmussen and her husband Chris of Coventry, CT and son Michael Laprise of Hampton, VA, grandchildren; Amanda and Molly Rasmussen and Ethan Laprise, siblings; Renaud, Jacques and his wife Lise, Lisette Paloczi, Alain, Michel and his wife Laura, Marc, and many nieces and nephews.

Guy moved from Quebec at the age of 24 with Celine to work at American Thread in Willimantic, CT and start a family. He retired as a polishing supervisor at Textron Corporation in Thomasville, Ga in 2003 after 30 years of service and moved to Wilmington, NC to enjoy retirement.

Guy loved spending time with his family, traveling, working on his projects around the house, gardening, his cat Gigi, NASCAR, and being French Canadian he loved hockey. He enjoyed his annual summer visit from his niece Lynn and husband Jacques.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Assumption 29 Adams St. South Manchester, CT. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home Manchester, CT has care of the arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com
