Marguerite Flynn

Obituary of Marguerite "Marge" Flynn

Marguerite “Marge” Flynn, 87, of Bolton, loving wife of 24 years of Bertrand Flynn, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 2, 2018.

Born in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Chetelat, Marge was a graduate of Manchester High School’s class of 1949.  Married in 1950 to Robert Phillips, Marge raised her family in Bolton, where she lived for the remainder of her life.  She worked at Friendly Ice Cream and the Treat Shop restaurants in Manchester for over 20 years, where she made many lifelong friends.  Marge then worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Courtney Simpson of Manchester for 15 years until her retirement.

Marge’s greatest accomplishment and purpose in life was her family.  She raised her children with loving care, honesty and integrity and was a constant source of support and encouragement throughout their lives.  She loved her grandchildren as if they were her own and was an important part of their lives.  Marge loved holiday gatherings, dancing, playing bingo and, in later years, traveling with her second husband Bert to places she never dreamed she would see.

For over 35 years, Marge was a grateful member of the Al-Anon program which significantly changed her life for the better.  She was helped and in turn helped many others.  Marge’s Al-Anon friends remained close and supported her throughout the final months of her life.

Along with her husband, Marge is survived by her daughter, Donna Phillips and husband Trip Barnett; son William Phillips and wife Pamela; grandchildren Dr. Michael Dietz and wife Sandra Guerrero, Jodi Hoar and husband Luke, Megan Michalski and husband Michael; Ryan Phillips and wife Sixta; great-grandchildren Tyler & Dillon Hoar, Anna Dietz, Leah and Noah Michalski and Ryan, Christine and Aaron Phillips, brother Terry Chetelat, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families who were very dear to her.  Marge was predeceased by her sisters Rosaleen Muldoon and Teresa Robba and brother Frank Chetelat, Jr.

The family would sincerely like to thank Vitas nurses Kristie and Krystal and Companions & Homemakers caregivers Marjorie and Gina for their compassionate, loving care during the last several months of Marge’s life.
