Obituary of Jerome Chemerka

Jerome W. "Jerry" Chemerka, 74, husband of Sheila (O�Neill) Chemerka died Monday (January 10, 2005). Born in Manchester August 18, 1930 and lived there for eighteen years, then settled in Bolton in 1956. He was the son of the late Walter and Barbara Chemerka of Manchester. He had two sons, Jerome "Rusty� W. Chemerka Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Willington, Michael Chemerka and his wife Carolyn of Andover, and three daughters Lynn Shea and her husband Edward of Willington, Chris Chemerka of Bolton, and Karen Picard and her husband Mark of Bolton, his grandchildren Kristin, Michael, Mitchell, Alexandra, Brian, Jeff, Steven, Kyle and Marisa. He was also survived by his brother Vytau Chemerka and his wife Marge of Waterford and several nieces and nephews. Jerome was predeceased by his sisters Adele McBride and Millie Rudin and his special cousins Geddy and Leo Kucinskas. He will also miss his cat Rosie and the buddies at Dunkin� Donuts. He retired in 1987 from Colt Industries, Firearms Division as supervisor of Research and Development in the Model Room. He was a former Bolton Town Constable for ten years, a member of the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department since 1962 and a member of Tri-County Fire Police Association. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a life member of the VFW Shea-Anderson Post #2046 in Manchester, a member of the U.S.S. Harold J. Ellison DD-864 association, The Tin Can Sailors Association, and the State and National Chapters of the Korean War Veteran�s Association. He was a life member and past president of the Interstate Police Officers Association since 1962. As an avid saltwater fisherman he was also a member of the Rhode Island Mobile Sportsfisherman and the United Mobile Sportsfisherman Associations and AARP. He was a communicant of St. Maurice Church in Bolton. Funeral Service will be held on Friday (January 14, 2005) at 9:00 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester with a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Maurice Church Bolton, burial will follow in Bolton Center Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 pm. The family would like to offer a special note of thanks to the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department for their care and compassion throughout the years.
