Obituary of Leonie L. Plante

Leonie L. Plante, 91, of Vernon, the wife of J. Lucien Plante died Monday, September 24, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.  Born in Norwich, August 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alban and Nelida (Melanson) Landry.  She was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy class of 1944, and St. Francis Hospital Nursing School as a Nurse Cadits, 1948.  Leonie was a veteran of the US Air Force having served as a Captain in the Korean Theater, stationed in Japan.  She was a member of the East Hartford Women’s Club and St. Francis Nurses Alum Association. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons Robert Plante, and William Plante and his wife Mary Jane Plante; her grandchildren James Plante and Margaret Plante; her sister Marie Bontempo; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Landry and sister Jeannette McNamara. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester followed by burial with military honors at Hillstown Rd. Veteran Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Saturday from 8:30-10 a.m.
