Obituary of Charles Bilan

Charles Bilan 94, beloved husband of Irene J. (Sadowski) Bilan passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 at the Glastonbury Health Care. Charles started his journey born April 2, 1924 in Lublin, Poland. At the age of 15 he elected for the sake of his family to enter the Nazi German labor camp in Auschwitz, Poland. In 1944 he fled to Italy and then in 1951 he fled to the United States arriving at Ellis Island to take a job on the Wilson Farm in Wilson, CT. In 1952 he took a job with the Atlantic Tool Company and retired from there after 30 plus years of service. In 1956 he married his beloved wife Irene, raised three children and moved to East Hartford where they lived for over 55 years. Charles was a good dad, was meticulous about his lawn and enjoyed traveling to the shore especially Ocean Beach Park in New London.

Besides his loving wife Irene, he is survived by his two sons Stephen & Richard Bilan and a daughter Janet Gehring – Bilan. Funeral Services are private at the convenience of the family. The John F.
