Sarah Ridolfi

Obituary of Sarah Ridolfi

Sarah (McAuley Hattan) Ridolfi, 99, of Manchester, passed from this life on Thursday Sept 20, 2018 at Crestfield Convalescent Home in Manchester.  She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Ridolfi and her former husband Nathaniel Hattan, the father of her children.

She was born July 11, 1919, in Hartford, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Ann McAuley. She grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford High School. Throughout her life, she was active in church and community affairs and a life-time member of the Anderson-Shea Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 2046.  In her early years, she worked in the food services area at Manchester High School, Hartford Kosher Catering and the Aetna Insurance Co.  She later worked at Pratt & Whitney as a factory shuttle bus driver.

Sarah was always the happiest when spending time with her large, extended family and her many friends.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Throughout her entire life, she remained extremely close to her five brothers and five sisters and their respective spouses.  She out-lived all but one.

She was a long time member of the Calvary Church in South Windsor, CT.

She is survived by her two sons, Neil Hattan and his wife Anne of Ellington and Douglas Hattan and his wife Janet of Dunedin, Florida; a sister, Kathleen Francis of Ellington; five grandchildren, Cynthia Skipper, Laura Manning and Angela Dagon all of Ellington, Brooke Hattan of Dunedin, Florida, and Brian Hattan of Coventry; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sarah had a special bond with one dear niece, Judith Gibilisco of Manchester, whom she called her caregiver and angel; a devoted and loving grandson, Brian Hattan of Coventry, whom she could always depend on for assistance; and an especially dear great-niece, Jennianne Clegg of Glastonbury, for whom she was matron-of–honor at her wedding at the grand-old age of 89.

She was predeceased by a baby daughter, Mary Jane Hattan; five brothers, William McAuley, James McAuley, Charles McAuley, George McAuley, and John McAuley; and four sisters, Florence Cebula, Anna Sherriffs, Mary Sullivan (her twin sister), and  Irene Edwards.

Sarah’s family would like to thank the staff at Crestfield Convalescent Home for their wonderful care and compassion during her convalescence, especially nursing assistant Marie Serignese.  We would also like to thank the hospice nurses of the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Vernon for their loving support during Sarah’s last days.
