Mildred Catherine Hood Massaro, age 89, wife of the late Dr. Joseph Massaro died January 6, 2005, after a long illness. Born in Bloomfield, March 31, 1915, daughter of John and Catherine Grady Egan Hood she had lived in Manchester for many years. She was a former long time member of St. James Church and an active member of the Ladies of St. James. Mildred was a life member of St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer house to house canvasser for cancer and heart funds. She is survived by her four children, Maureen and Thomas of Manchester, Janet of Olney, MD and Robert and his wife Diane of Chicopee, MA; grandchildren Michael and his wife Kristin, Mark and his wife Heather and Luciana; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers James Egan, John, Joseph, William, Edward and Vincent Hood and a sister Margaret Mary Hood (Sister John Catherine R.N.C.S.J.) Funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:15 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 at St. James Church Main St. Manchester with burial in St. James Cemetery.
