Obituary of Robert A. Giola Sr.

Robert A. Giola Sr. passed away on the morning of Sunday August 19, 2018 at home peacefully with his family at his side. Born May 19, 1939 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Angelo & Santina (Bertotti) Giola. Bob was a graduate of Manchester High School Class of 1958. He attended the CT State Police School and was a member of the CT Auxiliary Police and the color guard. He was President and Owner of Giola Corporation, a three-generation business started by his father in 1946 and has worked on many homes and businesses in the area.  Bob was a member of the Manchester Knights of Columbus, Manchester Lodge of Elks #1893, and an honorary member of FFA. He was a past member of the Silk City Chorus, Manchester Economical Development Committee and Past President and past Vice President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He was a longstanding member of the Church of the Assumption where he was a member of the choir and held various positions on a variety of committees. Bob lived a full life which included taking flying lessons. He loved the Point Judith and Maine Coasts, lighthouses and Maine jokes.

Bob is survived by his wife Margaret (Broker) Giola, his son Robert Giola, Jr. and his wife Monique of Manchester, his son Thomas Giola and his wife Janet of Glastonbury, his daughter Sharon Sicard and her husband Daniel of Coventry, his daughter Brenda Giola of Bolton, his step-daughter Debbi Kruzel and her husband Walter of Enfield, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Connolly. Bob also leaves his brother-in-law James Connolly, Sr. and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 24th at 10 AM at Church of the Assumption 29 Adams St. South Manchester followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery 1318 Hebron Ave. Glastonbury. Family and Friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester on Thursday August 23rd from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
