Obituary of Beau Thurnauer

Beau Thurnauer, 65, beloved husband of Nancy (Gillon) Thurnauer, passed away at his Coventry home on Tuesday August 7th.  Born in Manchester, he received his Bachelor’s degree from UCONN and his Master’s Degree from The University of Hartford.  Beau served on the UCONN Police Force, raised to the rank of Captain for the Manchester Police Department leaving that position to become Chief of Coventry Police Department and finished his career as a Deputy Chief of the East Hartford Police Department. He was a life-time member of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, the International Association of Police Chiefs, and the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence as well as an Adjunct Professor at Manchester Community College and Central Connecticut State University. Beau's resume goes much deeper than this but he was a humble man and always downplayed his accomplishments as those were not the things that defined him.

Beau loved many things; first and foremost his family, no conversation with Beau went without him talking about his son Logan and his daughter Jackie. His pride of his children and his wife Nancy were evident always. Beau loved knowledge &, learning, words, books, Newfoundland dogs, Bruin's hockey, cars, his bird feeders, cats, music, the beach, Vermont, laughter, humor and sarcasm.

Besides his wife Nancy, Beau is survived by his son Logan Thurnauer and his girlfriend Alix Finnegan of Philadelphia, PA, his daughter Jaclyn Orlowski and her husband Rick of Manchester, his sister Frost Krist and her husband Joe of Hebron, his nieces Pam Atwood and her husband Tom, Debby Potticary and her husband Richard, Abby Krist and her financé Dean Howard. He also leaves many nieces and nephews who will miss his laughter and antics.
