Richard Boyle

Obituary of Richard W Boyle

Richard W. Boyle, Sr., 72, of Manchester passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018 with his family by his side. Dick was born on December 10, 1945 in Manchester, CT, the youngest son of Margaret (Spring) and John Boyle, Sr. Dick grew up on his family farm at Manchester Green and spent his summers at the family cottage in Point O’ Woods. After graduating from Manchester High School in 1963, Dick joined the U.S. Coast Guard, proudly serving for four years and was honorably discharged with the rank of E5.  After serving on Johnson Island, HI as support during the Vietnam War, he returned to perform search and rescue diving and teach electronics at the Coast Guard Station at Avery Point in New London.  From there he would go on to spend much of his career in IT and retired from his role as VP of IT Operations, Global Bank at JP Morgan Chase. In his retirement, he decided to take what he recently referred to as his favorite job with The Home Depot, as it married his interests in home improvement with his desire to help people.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary (Mahoney) Boyle, his son Richard Boyle, Jr. and his wife Erin, his son Kevin Boyle and his wife Beth, and his son Brendan Boyle and his wife Jeannine. Dick adored his seven grandchildren, Ashley, Killian, Shea, Casey, John, Keira and Paige, and his beloved great-granddaughter Madelyn. Dick is survived by his sister Joan Peterson and her husband Roger, sister Barbara Zawilinski, sister-in-law Evelyn Boyle, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John M. Boyle, Jr. and his brother-in-law John Zawilinksi.  The family would like to especially thank the staff of the Salmon Brook Center in Glastonbury CT for their kindness and compassion.
