Obituary of Carol A Mahoney

Carol A (Avery) Mahoney, 69, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital, with her husband Thomas Mahoney, by her side after a short illness.

Carol was raised in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late Stanley and Phyllis Avery. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1967. Throughout her High School years, she worked at the locally famous restaurant, Shady Glenn. She retired from West Side Nursing and Rehab in 2013.

She is survived by her husband Thomas (Tom) Mahoney, her 2 sons Craig and Bryan Covensky both of Manchester, sister-in-law Shirley Horn and her husband George of Tolland, nieces Brenda Norman of Marlborough, Elizabeth Norman of Manchester, Lynn Bobskill of Tolland and Helen Girouard of Hartford, nephews Walter Kelly of Marlborough, George Horn Jr of Enfield, Keith and Kaiden Bobskill of Stafford and Derek, Ryan and Jack Kelly of Rolesville NC, cousins Darlene Sternberg, Robin Borik and Daniel Avery, several other cousins, aunts and uncles. Carol also leaves behind her life-long friend Cheryl Russel Crickmore of Manchester and Carol’s pride and joy her great, great niece Alyzza Taylor of Manchester. She is predeceased by her brother Philip Avery of Manchester and nephew Raymond Kelly of Rolesville NC

Carol dedicated her time to family and friends. Her family was everything to her. Carol was truly happiest when she was helping others. We will always remember her for being able to strike up a conversation with anyone, her infectious smile and huge heart.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT.  The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.  For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com
